Phnom Penh: Sections of the Cambodian coastline are being warned of possible flashfloods, with two typhoons effecting the country’s weather over the next 72 hours. Typhoon “In-fa” formed over the Pacific Ocean last night heading towards China. Another typhoon, “Cempaka” has formed in the upper reaches of the South China Sea.

Cempaka is expected to bring strong southwest monsoon winds to Cambodia until Thursday. The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has warned residents along the coast about moderate to heavy rainfall which may cause flashfloods. This includes Sihanoukville and Koh Kong, where strong winds and tidal waves are expected. The Ministry says fishermen and other seafarers should be extremely careful.

Provinces along the Mekong River, Dangrek Mountains and Cardamom Mountains are also expected to have moderate to heavy rain with strong winds this week. Cambodia’s lowland provinces will get the best of it with only moderate to heavy scattered rain showers.
